Hi there. I met this girl which originally turned out to be a business meeting. She had posted an ad looking for help in her business. When I first met her during the dinner meeting, I had no idea what she looked like. When I finally met her for the meeting, I thought she was gorgeous and asked her out a few days later. She agreed. We had scheduled our first dinner date at the same place where we had our initial business meeting, but then she had to cancel due to a business meeting (which I was able to verify and confirm). She said she would have to reschedule but everytime I asked her when she's free, she didn't text me back a response or said she has to check her schedule. That's when I figured she was just trying to back out. But what's confusing to me is that she always texts and calls me every day, asking how my day's going. And everything seems all fine and dandy. We only were seeing each other for about 2 weeks until I decided to end it. I either thought she changed her mind in dating me, or if she was sincere, she was just too much drama for me. I once dated a girl with the same situation and it kept confusing me all the time. When I told her not to call me anymore she freaked out and was very upset and angry. She was a bit but more upset and confused as to why I wanted out. Soon afterwards, she changed her # within less than a day after. My question is given the circumstances, what message was this girl trying to give me? Was she really interested in me? I kept asking her if we're still together at the time and she said of course. Or would you say she's a bit of a nut and I made the right choice in leaving her now before it progressed? I've already moved on to dating someone else a few days after I broke it off with her.

Dear Dazed and Confused,

Some people move at a glacial pace, some people rush right in and get their feet wet. Not everyone moves at the same pace. What was the rush? I honestly feel that after two weeks, if you have to ask her if you were together, then it probably would have been a dramatic road to a relationship. That doesn't mean she's crazy or you're crazy. It just means that you both were running on a different frequency. I would have taken my time and let things unfold more organically. Some people get whacky when they feel like they are being pushed. May I suggest that you take your time with dating the new girl. Stop reading so much into things. It takes a good three months to get to know someone. That's my land mark for dating. It's going to be whatever it's going to be the first month. By that point, you will know if that person is truly wants to spend time with you or if it's going to be casual. Then if you get to three months, it's enough time to get to know them, evaluate your feelings and get a good sense of where things are going. A: So the top 3 characteristics I look for in a guy...when I was searching for my hubby:


1-Honesty- Their i nothing wrong with being up front with your lady. You may not like what she has to say in return but at least you were up front and honest. My husband has hurt my feelings with some of his brutal honesty but in the end at least he was honest and I didn't leave the house wearing something that made me look bad...or I didn't serve that dish that tasted terrible.
But don't forget that their is honesty that won't get your lady hurt or mad...If your lady looks great tell her she looks great Or if you see a beautiful women at a club or a bar approach her in a nice way to tell her she looks nice don't be disgusting.

2-You have to make me laugh- Don't just tell that joke you read in Playboy..be quick whited...poke fun at yourself and stupid things you did during the day. Most times if you open up to her she will open up to you. It makes the getting to know you process a lot easier!!!


3- Goals- You have to have career goals in life. It doesn't matter what type of job you have know...it is the type of job you strive to get that makes you goal oriented. My husband has a great job and makes great money. They other day we were out and he leaned over to me and whispered in my ear I want to make...then he listed an obscene amount of money,,,,by next year. I don't care if he ever sees that dollar amount it is the fact that he has a goal in mind. And him having huge goals makes me have a huge goal. I never would have moved to a city I didn't know anyone and start my own company...and I am doing pretty good if I say so myself.

Shit, what? She called me out, so I sat back on my ride home from work, and was forced to evaluate what I think a Philly Hottie really is....is it just the hottest girl with the least clothing? No, it goes a little deeper than that. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so physically, a hottie can be anything to anyone, but what is it about the personality and make up of a woman that could make her a Philly hottie. I came up with this:

A Philly Hottie is a woman who is not only physically attractive, but mentally stimulating. She's a woman who just as comfortable at a dive bar as she is at a black tie event at the Constitution Center. She's intelligent and driven. For me, the hottest thing about a woman is her drive. Where does she want to be, and what is she doing to get there? We want smart, attractive women who buck the status quo, and can stimulate men physically and mentally. I guess that really we want that Independent woman who can be confident in herself and comfortable with us. In short, a woman who thinks she can change the world and look good doing it.

And we found one...Shakia is definitely a unique hottie. She fits these our description perfectly. She's politically aware, well versed, and accomplished author, a mother, and gorgeous. she's got that Jill Scott/Lauryn Hill neo-soul type look to her. Well, since there's so much to me, I'll try to be short and summarize:

-I work full-time

-I go to school full-time in the evenings at Temple University majoring in Human Resource Management

Your 2008 World Champion Philadelphia Phillies

It's done...the curses, the hexes, and all the anger and pain (ok, the pain's gone, anger not so much) the Phillies won the World Series. It was beautiful....as "We Are The Champions" hit the sound system, tears rolled down my face. The sheer joy of watching the last strike in person sent me into a frenzied combination of jumping, screaming,,maybe crying (MANtears only), Hi Fiving and texting. This is equivalent to farting, burping, sneezing, and coughing all at the same time. It sounds impossible, yet somehow millions of people pulled it off last nite. The guy in front of me hugged me...the guy next to me hi-fived...I screamed...The girl next to me kissed the old man in front of me. I jumped onto my seat and started pumping my fist in victory for the Phillies...but more importantly for us. For the fans...the city. It's for the players like Pat Burrell and J-Roll, the longest tenured Phillies, and guys like Charlie who's the constant underdog. It was a big Eff You to Fox, Joe Buck, Tim McCarver, and Ken Rosenthal. To all the "anal-ysts" who had us going down in 5 to LA...what have you got to say now?

To steal from Lenny Dykstra...Didn't We????!!! Didn't we just roll over every team to face us in the playoffs? Didn't we just not lose a playoff game at home? Didn't we have a closer that went 48 for 48 in saves this year. DIDN'T WE!!! As fans, we've been receiving thanks and praise from the players and management (not so much form national media), but it's time we thank this group. Without these guys coming out and never saying die, this season would never exist. This feeling we feel now, gone. So thanks Phils. Thanks for a memory that will last my whole life. Thanks for giving us a story we can pass on to our kids and our grandkids.
